- Assist the teacher with classroom management and supervision
- Attend to students’ physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
- Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
- Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students
- Work with smaller groups of students for remedial teaching or reinforcing the learning process
- Assist the teacher with various tasks such as grading assignments and tests
- Help students adjust, learn, and socialize
Typical Teacher Assistant Requirements and Skills:
- Teacher Assistant Certification
- Experience in a classroom setting as a Teacher’s Assistant, Teacher Aide, or Paraprofessional
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
