Paraprofessional Responsibilities:
- Redirecting students on classroom tasks as needed
- Assist in behavior management
- Provide instructional reinforcement for students
- Attend to student’s physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
- Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
- Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
- Assist teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class as needed
- Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and/or school administration
- Reinforcing behavior through the use of positive behavior support
- Teaching daily living skills such as independent feeding, dressing, toileting
- Guiding and assisting student in small group instruction settings with class routines and in transitioning from one activity to the next
- Teaching student, under direction of teacher in the following areas: recreation, motor, vocational, socialization and communication
- Collecting data documenting student behavior for instructional purposes
- Providing language assistance for bilingual students
Paraprofessional Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Previous experience in childcare
- Good organizational skills
- Good writing skills
